Scotty Francis, 57 of Jackson, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at his home in Jackson. He was born on August 11, 1969 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, Kentucky.
Scotty worked as a general laborer and was known as a jack of all trades. Throughout his life, he applied his skills wherever they were needed and built a life rooted in hard work. Outside of work, he enjoyed dirt track racing where he competed with his own car. He also enjoyed working on old cars, interests that reflected the hands-on way he approached life.
He attended Neace Memorial Church in Ned, Kentucky.
Scotty was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Francis and his mother, Martha Henson Francis. He is survived by his sisters, Penny Francis, Christinia Gross (Neil) and Lois Puffer (Ron); his nieces and nephews, Shane Puffer (Jackie), Justin Puffer (Ashley), Wesley Gross (Tiffany), Charlea Puffer, Gracie Mae Gross and Weston Gross; and his best friend and cousin, Audie Francis.
Those who knew Scotty will remember a man who valued hard work and enjoyed the simple pleasures that meant the most to him, especially time spent around racing and old cars. His life was marked by familiar routines, practical talents and the connections he shared with family and friends.
Visitation for Scotty will be held Friday, October 9, 2026 at the Breathitt Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 AM with his funeral service to begin at 1:00 PM with Greg Watts and Kenneth Noble officiating. Burial will follow in the Francis - Roberts Cemetery at Lost Creek with Audie Francis, Shane Puffer, Justin Puffer and other family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Scotty will be remembered with affection by those who knew him and by all whose lives were touched by his presence.
