Joann C. Turner

Joann C. Turner, 81, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

Born on February 4, 1944 in Blackey, Kentucky, Joann was the daughter of the late Otis and Martha Whitaker Cornett. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Gwen Caudill.

Joann was a devoted member of the Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church since 1980. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. 

She worked as a nurse aide at the Breathitt County Health Department where she served her community with care and compassion.

In her personal life, Joann found joy in many simple pleasures. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, tending to her flower garden, shopping, and keeping a tidy home. Most of all she cherished time spent with her family and participating in whatever her grandchildren were doing.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jesse Turner; her son, Craig (Melissa) Turner; her daughter, Tracy (Mike) Hukill; and her beloved grandchildren: Alexis Turner, Jacob Turner, Devin Hukill, and Kaylin Hukill. She also leaves behind a special niece, Teresa Caudill.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 6 at 11:00 AM with Pat Turner and Phil Swartzentruber officiating. Burial will follow in the Alice B. Turner Cemetery at Talbert, Kentucky with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Joann’s life was marked by faith, family, and service to others. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
