The members of the Neace Memorial Church performed a very special task on Sunday, September 27.
Gathered around a small wooden box on a post, the church officially unveiled Breathitt County’s newest help for the community.
The church dedicated “Bobby’s Blessing Box” to help the church better support the community,
Members said they would help stock the box, which assists those in need of food or working to stretch their grocery dollars.
The blessing box is named for the late Rev. Bobby Collins, who died in May after serving as the church’s pastor for more than forty years.
“It may look simple from the outside, but to us, it represents something so much bigger - faith, love, service, and the legacy of our pastor, Bobby,” the church posted on its social media page.
Children from the church helped stock the blessing box Sunday afternoon in preparation for its first customers.
The box, located in the church parking lot on Highway 15 South at Ned, is one of several in the county, following the first known box installed in the area at the Breathitt County Public Library in 2019.
Those in need are invited to take from the box “what they need” and be certain that everyone has the opportunity to share in the blessings left by others.
