Tractor-Trailer Accident Slows Highway 15 Traffic

Posted

An eighteen-wheeler hauling a piece of heavy equipment to Jackson caused a traffic jam early Monday morning after reportedly losing control near Vancleve.

The single-vehicle accident occurred just before 8:00 a.m. on May 11 in the steep curve near the Breathitt-Wolfe County line on Highway 15.

The Kentucky State Police and Breathitt County Sheriff John Hollan responded to the accident and helped control traffic to prevent a second accident as light rain fell across the county.

According to reports, a tractor-trailer from Bubba’s Heavy Hauling was traveling south on Highway 15 when a piece of equipment shifted on the trailer and caused an accident.

The trailer and the milling equipment came to rest in the ditch near Highway 15 and Tasha Lane.

Two heavy equipment wreckers from Allen’s Towing and Recovery in Manchester were called to the scene to help get the truck and equipment back onto the roadway.

Traffic in the area was slowed for more than an hour and a half as workers cleared the accident.

Workers from the Kentucky Department of Transportation assisted in traffic control.

No injuries were reported, and the roadway was reopened shortly after nine on Monday morning.

The tractor-trailer proceeded on to the construction site at Jackson for its delivery.
