Stephen “Jack” Gay passed away Friday, December 19, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard. He was born July 16, 1954 to parents, John D. and Lucille Sparks Gay, both of whom preceded him in death.
Jack was retired from Jackson Energy, was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman his entire life and loved the Lord, witnessing to others until his final days.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Cherl Gay; sister, Emma (Duck) Moore; daughter-in-law, Sharon Allen Gay; bonus children, Jasmine (Chadd) Robertson and Tyler Coomer; bonus grandchildren, Courtney Robertson, Whitley Coomer, Tyson Coomer and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Darren Travis Gay, his sister, Donna Hays and bonus grandson, Creed Robertson.
