Soil Conservation Donates to BCPL

Posted

Thirty-seven new books were added to the shelves of the Breathitt County Public Library after a generous donation from the Breathitt County Soil Conservation District’s Board of Directors.

The donation was approved by the Board at their April meeting and was presented to Library Director Stephen Bowling by Chairman George A. Turner on Tuesday.

“We appreciate the cooperation and kindness of the Soil Conservation District and all of their Directors,” Bowling said.  “Their generous donation will help us promote the conservation efforts to many different groups.”

The donation was made to boost the library’s collection of agricultural and environmental-themed books for adults, teens, and children.

Many of the books have already arrived and are on the shelves.

The Board members include George Turner (Chairman), Paul Turner, Margaret Gross, Barb Smith, Tony Fugate, Ashley Hudson, and Greg Hollon.

The Breathitt County Soil Conservation District was organized in 1945 and helps farmers and landowners protect soil and water quality through state and federal programs in cooperation with the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.
