A Breathitt County man was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail on Monday after he was arrested at Vancleve.
Sheriff John Hollan arrested Mark Anthony Robertson, 45, of Warshoal Branch, and charged him with one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Intoxicants and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree (Carfentanil or Fentanyl Derivatives).
According to sources, a driver found Robertson at the wheel of a silver 2016 Kia Sportage sitting at the stop sign at the ramp connecting Highway 15 and 205 at Vancleve. According to the arrest citation, Robertson was “passed out” with the “vehicle in drive and his foot on the brake.”
A witness at the scene said that they believed “he was dead.”
The Breathitt County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the scene along with medical personnel from Breathitt-Wolfe Ambulance Service at 4:34 p.m.
EMS crews administered Narcan to revive Robertson, who was “unable to complete any field sobriety tests.”
Robertson was arrested and transported to the Kentucky River Medical Center, where he refused to submit to a blood test after having his rights through Implied Consent read to him.
During a routine search of Robertson, Sheriff Hollan located “three small plastic baggies” in his billfold, which allegedly contained more than three grams of fentanyl. The alleged drugs were sent to the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab for identification and weight.
Mark Robertson was transported to the Kentucky River Regional Jail at 6:56 p.m. by the Breathitt County Jailer and ordered held under a $10,000 cash bond pending his appearance in Breathitt District Court before Judge Gary Waktins.
The case is expected to be forwarded to the Breathitt County Grand Jury for possible indictments.
