Paul Eugene Hensley, 76, of Ned, Kentucky, departed this earthly life Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born on August 24, 1949 in Clayhole, Kentucky, Paul lived a life filled with hard work, devotion to family, and a love for the simple joys that brought him happiness.
Paul was a self-employed mechanic whose skill and dedication to his craft earned him respect from those who knew him. His garage was not only a place of work but also a gathering spot where stories were shared and friendships were strengthened. Beyond his career, Paul found joy in many pursuits that reflected his zest for life and connection to the world around him.
A man of the Baptist faith, Paul cherished time spent with family and friends. He especially adored his great-grandchildren, Hadley and Haisley who brought light into his life. Sundays often found Paul riding four-wheelers on long all day trips. He loved the annual family reunion. These reunions were a highlight of his year, where he delighted in playing horseshoes—a game at which he excelled as a multi-time champion. He also enjoyed playing cards especially canasta.
Paul’s passions extended to racing—whether behind the wheel himself or watching it on television. After retiring from racing at the local tracks he supported his son in his racing career. He not only attended his races but during the week he and Greg and others would work and prepare for the next race the following weekend. He had a deep appreciation for nature through activities like fishing and ginsenging. His life was one of energy and enthusiasm, always finding ways to connect with others and embrace the world around him.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Rosa Lee Combs Hensley; their son, Greg Hensley and daughter-in-law, April; his grandchildren, Amber Francis, Alex Francis and Matthew Francis (Tatlynn); and great-grandchildren, Hadley and Haisley. He is also survived by his brothers, Larry Hensley (Shirley) and Mike Hensley (Diana); his sister, Bonnie Fugate (Bob); his sisters-in-law, Wilma Hensley, Patty Hensley, Sue Hensley, Lola Combs Hutchinson and Bessie Combs (Bill) Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ossie and Beulah Combs Hensley; brothers, Roy Ray Hensley, Dennis Hensley and Ernie Hensley; nephew, Ernie Hensley and niece, Carrie Hensley.
Visitation for Paul will begin Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the Breathitt Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with his funeral service to be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:00 PM with Oat Marshall and Greg Watts officiating.

God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Rev. 21:4
Paul’s legacy is one of love for family, dedication to his work, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
