Mary (Campbell) Ray, 82 of Hazard, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born on September 20, 1943 in Fugate's Fork, Kentucky, Mary was the daughter of the late Jesse and Carrie (Fugate) Campbell.

Mary spent her life as a dedicated factory worker, contributing to her community with hard work and perseverance. She was known for her kind and quiet spirit, a quality that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth and gentle nature left an indelible mark on those around her. She was loved by all who knew her.

Mary cherished time spent with family and friends. She found joy in listening to music, watching television, talking on the phone, going out with friends, reading, and simply being surrounded by loved ones. Her presence brought comfort and happiness to those she held dear.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Anita Nash and son-in-law Jay; her granddaughters, Jazmin and Madelyn; and her sisters, Lou Bush, Laura Smith (Gary), Dena Neace (Glen), Neva Williams (Erwin) and Patricia Woodhull (Alan). Mary also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her kindness.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Ray; her parents, Jesse and Carrie Campbell; her son, Mark Ray; her brother, Lewis Campbell; and her sisters, Thelma Miller and Martha Campbell.

Visitation for Mary will begin Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with her funeral service scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM with Eldon Miller officiating.  

Mary will be laid to rest at the Harvey Bend #2 Cemetery at Fugate's Fork with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Mary’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May the love she shared continue to bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
