Kayla Jean Adams Sandlin, 31, of Jackson, Kentucky passed away Friday, May 15, 2026 at her mother's home in Beattyville. Born on June 21, 1994 in Hazard, Kentucky, Kayla was the beloved daughter of Tina Willett Smith and John Wayne Adams.

A graduate of Breathitt High School, Kayla dedicated her life to being a homemaker and a devoted mother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, cherishing every moment with her husband of 12 years, Lucas Sandlin, and their three sons: Dalton Sandlin, Colton Sandlin and Weston Sandlin. Family was at the heart of everything Kayla did and she found immense happiness in creating memories with those she loved most.

Kayla had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing. These activities brought her peace and allowed her to connect with nature alongside her family. From an early age, she also found comfort in her faith and attended church regularly throughout her life.

Kayla is survived by her loving husband, Lucas; their sons, Dalton, Colton, and Weston; her mother, Tina Willett Smith; her father, John Wayne Adams; brothers, Michael Wayne Adams and Johnathan Keith Adams; sisters, Kimberly Adams, Kenleigh Smith, Heather Adams and Belinda Adams. She was preceded in death by her sister, Isabella Adams and her grandparents, William and Stella Willett as well as John Adams and Frieda Combs.

Visitation for Kayla will begin Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the Breathitt Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with additional services to be held at 7:00 PM with Calvin Eash in charge.  Kayla's funeral service will be held Monday, May 18, beginning at 1:00 PM with Gary Riley and Chris Turner officiating.

Burial will follow in the Cole Family Cemetery at Bowling Creek with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Kayla’s warmth and dedication to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
