A 42-year-old Jackson resident died Wednesday after a freak accident.
According to reports, police and ambulance crews were called to Brewer’s Trailer Court after neighbors reported that Jason David Jones had been crushed beneath a truck.
Witnesses told The Jackson Times-Voice that neighbors heard a dog barking and stepped outside to investigate. They located the barking dog and a man pinned beneath a truck that had fallen off a jack while he was working on the vehicle.
Fire and rescue crews from the Jackson Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, but neighbors used a jack to lift the truck off Jones. Firefighters removed his body from the entrapment and immediately started life-saving procedures.
Firefighter Al Hollon began CPR compressions on Jones and was continued by Firefighters Jacob Spencer and Jace Johnson until ambulance crews from Breathitt-Wolfe Ambulance arrived on scene. JPD officers, State Troopers, and fire units helped load Jones into an ambulance and he was transported to the Kentucky River Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Jason David Jones was a veteran of the United States Army and the son of Faye Jones and David Jones. He is survived by his parents, his wife, Anna Jones, five children, and several grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jason D. Jones were conducted on Wednesday, March 11, at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard with Rev. Joe Engle officiating.
He was buried in the Mountain Memory Garden in Hindman.
The incident remains under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
