Gladys Turner, 91, of Bowlings Creek departed this earthly life, Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center.
Gladys was born at Turners Creek to the late Allen and Gracie Turner Herald. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Grover Turner; her son, Johnny Lee Turner; her brothers, Tommy, Johnny, William, Patrick, Mose; her sisters, Lindie, Cora, Polly, Sarah; special niece, Grace Dorman.
Gladys was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, quilting, going to church and spending time with her family.
She was a member of both the Turners Creek Church of Christ and the Bowling Creek Church of Christ for 78 years.
She is survived by her daughters, Grace (Mike) Griffith and Joan (Lennie) Centers; her daughter-in-law, Brenda Turner; sisters-in-law, Goldie Wells and Phyllis Clark; her grandchildren, Sheena, Amy, Sara, Heather, Andy; her great grandchildren, Natalie, Winnie, Chrissa, Johnna, Gabe, Johnny; special nephews, Darrel Raleigh, Donald J. Raleigh, Kenneth Raleigh, Glen Herald; special nieces, Grace Raleigh, Lisa Holmes, Lois Raleigh; special cousin, Mose Turner; special friends, Norma Spicer, Mary Turner, Lillian Cole.
Visitation for Gladys will begin, Sunday, October 6, 11:00 AM at the Breathitt Funeral Home Chapel and her service will follow the visitation Sunday, beginning at 1:00 PM with Chris Turner, Albert Little, Patrick Turner Jr. and Robbie Turner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Turner Spicer Cemetery at Bowling Creek.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Spicer, Lindburg Spicer, Chris Spicer, Jeff Turner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lennie Centers, Mike Griffith, David Griffith, Robert Lee Spicer, Bill Turner, Mose Turner, Silas Turner.
