The Jackson Fire Department got its first glance at the new ladder truck approved by the city council during its January 15 regular meeting.
The truck is a Pierce Enforcer Ascendant Aerial Tower with a platform that extends to 100 feet.
According to the preliminary design and specs, the new truck will include a 70" cab with seating for six, a 300-gallon poly tank, a primary pump capable of 2000 gallons per minute, an equipment payload capability of 2,500 pounds, dual monitors, and many other advanced technologies to help aid firefighters in fighting fire and perform their duties safely.
The truck was ordered through Atlantic Emergency Solutions, a Pierce Manufacturing Platinum Certified Dealer, through the Regional Account Managers Eric Colson and Chester Wooten.
After some discussion during its January meeting, the council voted 5-0 in favor of the $2.2 million purchase, with Councilperson Steve McIntosh abstaining.
The new aerial truck will undergo numerous reviews and revisions before construction at Pierce’s facility in Appleton, Wisconsin. Deliver to the City of Jackson is expected in “several years.”
