False Report Sends Hall to Jail

Posted

A Cane Creek woman was arrested on Friday after she allegedly filed a false report with the Kentucky State Police about her children.

Trooper Justin Baker arrested Courtney J. Hall, 34, of Garden Lane off Highway 397, on February 27, following the report of several children who were not breathing and had turned blue.

According to police reports, Hall called 911 at about 7:00 a.m. at Post 13 in Hazard and reported that her five-year-old child “continued to go in and out of consciousness.”  Dispatchers at Hazard attempted to reconnect by phone with Hall numerous times after she hung up.

A crew from Breathitt-Wolfe Ambulance at the location on Cane Creek found the child “up and walking around” and found nothing wrong with the child.

Nearly two hours later, Hall called 911 again and reported that she believed the other children had “done something” to her eight-year-old son because “they were jealous.”  While troopers were en route to the scene, Hall called again and reported her son was walking around but “would not wake up.”

Before troopers arrived, 911 received several other calls about the Hall household.

Trooper Baker arrived at Garden Lane, and the eight-year-old answered the door.

Courtney Hall told Trooper Baker that her children were “acting weird” and denied that she had used any illegal drugs or alcohol.

After emergency medical personnel evaluated the children, they determined there were no health issues.

A family member was called to the home to stay with the children, and Hall was placed under arrest.  She was charged with one count of Falsely Reporting an Incident to Law Enforcement.

Trooper Baker continues to investigate the incident.
