Edith Elois Combs Meadows, 93, of Clayhole, Kentucky, went home to be with her Lord Friday, August 7, 2026 at her home. Born on January 28, 1933 in Clayhole, Edith lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, family and service to her community.

Edith earned a master’s degree and dedicated her professional life to education as a teacher for the Breathitt County Board of Education. Her commitment to shaping young minds left an enduring impact on countless students throughout her career. Beyond her professional achievements, Edith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her loved ones.

A lifelong member of the Clayhole Brethren Church, Edith’s faith was central to her life. She found joy in singing hymns and attending church services. Her hobbies reflected her love for simple pleasures—she enjoyed reading, gardening and nurturing relationships with family and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Marvin Meadows; her parents, Nathan and Eva J. Landrum Combs; her son, Charles Paul "Chuck" Meadows and several siblings.

She is survived by her children: Anthony Lynn "Tony" Meadows; Sandy Rhea Meadows and Teresa Dawn Meadows. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Shana (Adam) Clary, Tasha (Mike) Bowlin, Keesha Watts, Tyler (Clarissa) Meadows and Nathan Meadows; as well as her great-grandchildren: Ella Bowlin, Brody Bowling, Landon Clary, Raelee Blue Clary and Memphis Meadows.

Visitation for Edith will be held Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Breathitt Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 AM with her funeral service to be conducted beginning at 1:00 PM with Mark Combs, Anthony Mullins and Mike Tabor officiating.

Burial will follow in the McIntosh Cemetery at Clayhole, Kentucky with Tony Meadows, Tyler Meadows, Nathan Meadows, Tim Combs, Mark Combs and Paul David Combs serving as pallbearers.

Edith’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May the love she shared and the lessons she imparted bring comfort to those she leaves behind.

Clayhole will never be the same nor will our hearts.

It is well with my soul.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to the Meadows family.
