Daniel Fugate, 78, of Barwick departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Born on May 4, 1947 in Chavies, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Vernis and Cassie Neace Fugate. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Wanda Stidham, Brenda Baker, and Ola Fugate.
Daniel was a retired coal miner and a devoted member of the Turner's Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. In his spare time, he cherished moments with his family, enjoyed fishing, farming, and spending time with friends at Hardee's.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol Sue Herald Fugate; his daughters, Cassie Denette Fugate and Danna Fugate Duff; his grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda) Stamper, Tyler (Jordan) Mullins, and Shana (Cody) Neace; a host of great-grandchildren; and his special cousin, Mary Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM with the funeral service taking place on Sunday, June 1, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Paul Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Fugate Family Cemetery at Barwick.
