Conservation District Welcomes New Board Member; Almanacs Available

Posted

The Breathitt County Soil and Water Conservation District officially welcomed a new member to its Board of Supervisors recently.

The Kentucky Division of Conservation recently approved the nomination of Barb Smith of Jackson to fill a vacant seat.

Smith replaces the late board member Danny Fugate, who passed away earlier this year.

"We are pleased to have Barb join the board and look forward to her contributions to our conservation efforts," said George Turner, Board Chairman of the Conservation District.

During the brief meeting, Chairman Turner also provided an update on materials available to the public.

The Conservation District still has a supply of its 2026 Almanac books.  The highly anticipated 2026 Almanac calendars are now also available.  Both items are free to the public and are a popular resource for residents of Breathitt County.

To obtain any of these items, please visit us during our regular business hours, Monday through Friday. The Conservation District office is located in the Jett’s Shopping Center.

Turner encouraged all residents to stay connected with the district through its online channels.

"I want to remind everyone about the Conservation District's website," Turner stated. "We encourage the public to visit the website at www.breathittconservation.org for the latest news, programs, and information."
