Brenda Kay Barnett Turner, 69, of Jackson, Kentucky departed this earthly life at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Whitesburg on Monday, March 2, 2026. Born on June 27, 1956 in Campton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Glen and Betty Shouse Barnett. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Jim Barnett and Darrell Barnett and her sisters, Jan Howard and Donna Barnett.
A graduate of Breathitt High School, Brenda dedicated her life to being a homemaker and mother. Her unwavering love for her family and her faith were central to her life. She found joy in reading, especially her Bible and cherished watching WLJC. Brenda also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, playing the piano and singing. Her Pentecostal faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
Brenda is survived by her sons, Daniel "Chey" Turner (Jamie) and Derek Turner (Valerie); the father of her children, Danny Turner; her brother, Kenneth Barnett and her sisters Peggy Handshoe, Betty Sue Barnett, Mona Patrick, Patsy Hays, Jackie Dunn and Mary Bouchard. She was a proud grandmother to Haley Turner, Jaylen Turner, Danielle Turner, Cheylee Turner, Bentlee Turner and Waylon Turner; and a loving great-grandmother to Miley Turner and Layne Turner.
Visitation for Brenda will begin Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Breathitt Funeral Home with her funeral service scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM with Kerney Bouchard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Shouse Cemetery at Town Hill with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Brenda’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May her legacy of love and faith bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to the Jackson Police Department Shop with a Cop.
