Breathitt County native Zanda Johnetha Boggs, daughter of the late John and Martha Boggs, has released her debut memoir, Whispers of Resilience: A Journey Through Shadows, now available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle formats.
Boggs grew up in Jackson, Kentucky, where many of the early experiences that shaped her life story began. Those formative years in Breathitt County provided the backdrop for a journey that would eventually lead her toward helping others navigate trauma, healing, and personal growth.
For the past 14 years, Boggs has resided in Campbellsville, Kentucky, where she has established herself as both a mental health professional and educator.
In Whispers of Resilience, Boggs shares a candid, deeply personal account of her life, exploring themes of childhood adversity, complex family dynamics, motherhood, and the difficult yet transformative process of healing. Through honest storytelling, the memoir reflects on how painful experiences can become powerful sources of strength, identity, and purpose.
Boggs hopes that readers will see pieces of their own struggles within the pages and feel encouraged to continue their own journeys toward resilience.
Beyond her work as an author, Boggs has built a career dedicated to serving others. She works as a mental health counselor and serves as an adjunct instructor, teaching courses that help prepare future professionals in assistive fields.
She is also currently pursuing her doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision, further expanding her work in trauma, resilience, and community healing.
Johnny C. Boggs served as a reporter for many years at The Breathitt County Voice. He and Martha were tragically killed in an automobile accident on August 8, 2014, in Columbia, Kentucky.
Boggs says writing the memoir was both challenging and meaningful, allowing her to reflect on the experiences that shaped her life while offering hope to others facing similar struggles.
Whispers of Resilience: A Journey Through Shadows is now available for purchase on Amazon.
